Wavemaker unites UK workforce to build Farm

Share

Yesterday, Wavemaker UK’s entire workforce swopped computers for shovels as they helped to build and transform a farm at Rural Care’s 100-acre Aldenham Country Park. Keep calm and farm: As part of its 2018 CSR program, Wavemaker supports Rural Care, a day provision that provides work related experiences for people with learning disabilities and/or mental health issues.

With a well-documented commitment to transforming local communities, and showcasing its collaborative approach to working, Wavemaker brought together all three of its UK offices – London, Manchester and Scotland – to develop the site in Elstree, Hertfordshire. Tasks included building wheelchair accessible pathways and allotments, sensory garden planting and playground makeovers. The end result saw a united Wavemaker workforce completing the equivalent of a few years’ full-time work in just one day.

Rural Care prides itself on providing a caring and supportive environment and is based across two sites in Hertfordshire, including Aldenham Country Park; it’s a charity that Wavemaker are proud to support.

Paul Hutchison, CEO, Wavemaker said of the project “As Wavemakers, we feel it’s so important to take time out of our day jobs and give something back to the community. We’re extremely proud of what we have been able to achieve in a short space of time for Rural Care, showcasing the incredible power that collaboration can have, and we look forward to a continued relationship with them.”

“We feel delighted Wavemaker has chosen Rural Care and Aldenham Country Park as part of their 2018 CSR initiative, helping us to quite literally, transform in one day. With Wavemaker’s help we have tackled projects that for the last three years, we have only dreamed of but never had the resources to do. We are extremely grateful and look forward to working together in the future.” Ann De Bock, Department Head, Rural Care.
