Tim Castree, Global CEO of MEC and GroupM’s ‘NewCo’ today announced that Hugo Gómez, CEO Maxus Mexico, will take on the role of CEO of the newly combined MEC and Maxus 'NewCo' agency in Mexico when it launches in January 2018.

Hugo Gómez has been Maxus México CEO since 2010 and the new role becomes effective in January 2018.

Hugo Gómez has been CEO of Maxus Mexico since July 2010. Under his leadership the agency not only increased its client base, most recently winning the Scotiabank account, but also it has consistently performed as the Group’s most profitable agency in Latam. Since 2011 he has led Maxus to be among the top ten media agencies in the market, with Maxus being named in 2012 and 2013 by RECMA as the agency with the highest growth rate.

 Prior to Maxus, Hugo was Mindshare's COO and helped to win WPP’s first AMEX International Marketing Award in 2008. That year he led the Nestlé Unit, one of the biggest accounts of GroupM Mexico, to win an Effie Media Award and the best Mindshare client assessment.

 Prior to his Mindshare experience, he worked for OMD as Latam Service Director for Fedex and Exxon. Currently, he is member of the board of the “Media Agencies Association”.
