In consultation with FLYEfit, we determined that traditional media would not alone be sufficient for the level of detail we needed to convey. Instead we worked to deliver a piece of comms that benefitted more than just media and delivered a functional uplift to their reopening plans.

Challenge

In March 2020, FLYEfit gyms were forced to close their doors due to the Coronavirus pandemic. With 16 branches across Dublin & Cork, business operations were essentially shut down.

In July, highly restricted regulations we’re introduced to allow gyms to re-open. The breadth and scale of these regulations meant FLYEfit needed to devise a novel and simplistic way to communicate all changes and responsibilities to members who would soon be returning to a drastically different gym environment.

In July, highly restricted regulations we’re introduced to allow gyms to re-open. The breadth and scale of these regulations meant FLYEfit needed to devise a novel and simplistic way to communicate all changes and responsibilities to members who would soon be returning to a drastically different gym environment.

With so much information to share, we decided to create a bespoke animation which clearly and concisely demonstrated all measures taken. This would be produced by Wavemaker and seeded out across paid platforms. More importantly, it would be given to FLYEfit to communicate directly to their member base.

Wavemaker produced the branded animation and provided it to FLYEfit in all best practice formats for their website, newsletter and social channels. This was shared with existing members through usual member comms. Separately we used 10sec cutdowns across paid social to attract new members by highlighting the strict safety measure in place.

We highlighted FLYEfit’s leadership position in gym safety and encouraged competitor members to consider FLYEfit as a more equipped solution.

We also produced an infomercial style content piece which is displayed on screens within FLYEfit gyms nationwide.

Results

Our animation was seen 2.6 million times across all media channels and countless times in FLYEfit gyms as the execution became part of the client’s own brand message in response to COVID-19 safety requirements.
