DoorDash and Wavemaker are back with tasty Twitch battle

Back in 2021, DoorDash ran a custom tournament on Twitch that featured eight different snack brands competing for the title of “Battle of Snacks” winner. Fast-forward to now, DoorDash expanded on this success with “Battle of the Brands,” a follow-up contest which paired ten DoorDash-affiliated QSR merchants with ten recognisable Twitch streamers.

The tournament was a live bracket-style tournament on Twitch that ran over a two-day period, and gamers competed by playing the game ‘MultiVersus’, with three popular hosts (Chris Pukett, Steven Scott and Austy) acting as commentators throughout the competition. The first-place winner received $15,000 in cash prizes, one-of-a-kind golden boxing gloves, and a whopping year supply of DoorDash, with the runner up receiving $5,000 in cash and a six-months supply of DoorDash goods.

This follow-up contest exceeded benchmarks set the year prior in terms of viewership, concurrent viewers and engagement. In total, the tournament garnered 13.8 million minutes watched (which exceeded the prior year by 46%) — an impressive feat. DoorDash and Wavemaker are incredibly proud of this campaign, not only because we exceeded benchmarks, but also because this was a completely bespoke initiative that we brought to Twitch and is now something our audience looks forward to watching annually.
