Nerdwallet unlocks a new level to engage gamers

American Personal Finance company, Nerdwallet, has an established partnership with Twitch, with the main goal of grabbing gamers’ attention while introducing them to the world of personal finance. To take their partnership to the next level, Nerdwallet worked closely with Twitch’s creative team to build a custom video that featured popular content creator Autumn Rhodes. Most famous for her Grand Theft Auto gameplay, and her reach of 220,000 followers on her Twitch page.

Rather than simply running a generic message targeted toward the masses, Nerdwallet’s video content was specifically developed with gamers in mind. The custom creative focused on bringing the experience of utilizing NerdWallet to life. It showcased how Autumn personally uses the service to help bolster her career on the gaming platform that the ad appeared on. The video depicted how Nerdwallet helped her evaluate the best credit card options for purchasing streaming gear, with an overarching message that was focused on finding the smartest financial products to help her unlock her dreams.

Gamers generally are fickle when it comes to advertising, which is why it’s crucial for brands to have a personalized messaging approach that feels organic to the platform the creative appears on. By leveraging their partnership with Twitch, Nerdwallet was able to tap into their talent pool and execute a unique content experience that spoke directly to this gaming audience.
