As a Sneakerhead, when I read Nike filed seven trademark applications as it prepared to enter the metaverse, I was excited to see what they envisioned, especially since they were so early to utilize AR and geo-targeting for their SNKRS app. So, when I discovered Nike launched a virtual play place inside Roblox where I could dress my avatars in Nike gear, how could I not try it?
Free to play, NIKELAND on Roblox – a virtual world inspired by Nike’s real-world headquarters where players can play a slew of games or make their own – is focused on competition and creativity, core brand tenants it no doubt will be bringing further into the digital world(s) in 2022.
While NIKELAND lets me design mini-games from interactive sports-based materials, and virtually lace up a pair of new Air Force 1s, I can’t help but get excited about how Nike will push the boundaries of community and commerce in the coming months.
