Simple yet effective. We are all familiar with the age-old adage of keeping things simple, but how does that translate in the complex creative world of social media? Here we see a hilarious but very simple creative for Scrub Daddy. You may be asking, is it too simple?

If you are unfamiliar with the brand, Scrub Daddy is a cleaning tools company best known for a sponge that it manufactures, also called Scrub Daddy, that is in the shape of a smiley face. Not only are they the most viral cleaning sponge on the market, they are also America’s favourite sponge, selling out every time they are restocked.

Maintaining the style of TikTok, Scrub Daddy is producing some of the simplest yet most highly effective creatives on the market. In this particular example, one of their signature sponges is styled as an emo kid, with a spoof of a Secondhand Serenade song playing in the background.

How effective? Over five million views, one million likes, 16k comments and countless new follows on their platform page. Scrub Daddy is quite literally using their products to engage with consumers via some of TikTok’s most viral trends.

Simplicity when it comes to creative is almost always the best route. The message becomes easier to understand, the brand becomes easier to remember and recognize and the use of the product is translated into a more digestible manner for the consumer.
