Wavemaker and DoorDash take to Twitch for Taco Bell takeover

Celebrating the release of Final Fantasy XVI, Wavemaker US, DoorDash and Taco Bell joined forces and collaborated on a promotion that coincided with the resurrection of the fast food giant’s fan-favourite Volcano Menu, with the promotion exclusively available for delivery on DoorDash.

During the 2023 Summer Games Fest broadcast – one of gaming’s biggest events – fans were encouraged to use the code GAMEFEST to receive a free Taco Bell burrito and be entered to win one of five Collector’s Edition versions of FFXVI 1. Fans using code FFXVI were able to receive a free Volcano Menu Taco Bell Burrito/Taco, an in-game Orchestrion Roll, and were entered to win one of 1,000 copies of the game.

The campaign was broadcast on YouTube during and surrounding the Summer Games Fest live stream, and further activity was promoted on the DoorDash app through CRM, in-app banners, and social media posts, and had a baked-in host during the live segment. Additionally, the campaign was live on Twitch and was promoted across three custom-branded influencer streams. It also included a DoorDash Florida Supercon event presence and was promoted on the DoorDash app through CRM, in-app banners, and social media posts.

The campaign performed incredibly well, driving 34 million views globally, and the GAMEFEST promo code was redeemed a whopping 11,222 times.
