Wavemaker Appointed as Media Agency of Record by Coinbase

Share

Wavemaker US is thrilled to be appointed Media Agency of Record (AOR) by leading cryptocurrency exchange and trading platform, Coinbase, effective immediately.

The designation follows an internally led agency selection process that challenged agencies to raise awareness of Coinbase, scale performance by broadening reach, and align the brand with popular culture as it becomes the first pure-play crypto trading company to list on a U.S. exchange.

We differentiated ourselves throughout the selection process with our provocative approach to finding new audiences, accelerating access with new touchpoints, and creating new economy experiences that cement the Coinbase brand within culture.

The scope of Wavemaker’s work for Coinbase will focus on brand media and will encompass planning, investment and activation, data and analytics, sponsorship, and content.

“We are excited to partner with Coinbase to educate consumers on the possibilities of cryptocurrency,” said Louisa Wong, CEO, Wavemaker, Americas Region. “We challenge our clients to push boundaries, challenge norms and drive transformation, all in service of growing their businesses. Coinbase embraces our provocative spirit, making for a strong partnership as we work together to drive customer interest and positively impact their bottom line.”

“We’re thrilled that our strategic approach, fusing brand and performance, resonates,” said Brad Backenstose, Executive Director, Client Lead, Wavemaker. “I’m also proud that every single element of our approach – spanning media touchpoints to transformative content ideas – is connected to accountable measurement and rigor as we look to track, optimize and accelerate Coinbase’s growth.

The appointment further expands Wavemaker’s roster of new economy brands and continues Wavemaker’s strong momentum. The agency has onboarded more than a dozen new clients – including Pernod Ricard USA, Perfetti Van Melle, Bungie and EcoLab – and hired hundreds of talented people to serve its growing portfolio in the past 12 months.
