Wavemaker and Out in Tech partner to drive a more inclusive workplace


We are proud to announce our partnership with Out in Tech, a non-profit LGBTQ+ community organization that creates opportunities for LGBTQ+ leaders to advance their careers and visibility within the STEM sector. As the first media agency partner, we are looking to inspire the next generation of LGBTQ+ talent to pursue jobs within media and technology through greater visibility, access and education.

“On behalf of Out in Tech, we are thrilled to welcome Wavemaker as our newest corporate partner,” said Andrew Lowenthal, Executive Director of Out in Tech. “We look far and wide for companies and organizations that share our values and ideals of bolstering diversity in tech, and you all came to us with a clear and unequivocal message: We support LGBTQ techies and we want IN!”

Together with Out in Tech we will collaborate to create a career advancement agenda, focused on learning and engagement, that will give more LGBTQ+ talent the resources and support to consider roles within media and technology. The partnership will include shadow days, events and leadership programming that will expose their 20,000+ community members to the varied jobs within a media agency.

But what matters even more is our ability to hold ourselves accountable for creating a workplace where everyone feels connected and cared for,” said Kristen Metzger, Wavemaker’s Chief Talent Officer. “We continue to think critically about the structures and partnerships that are needed to strengthen this commitment and drive cultural impact. With this collaboration, we’re taking deliberate steps to invite the LBGTQ+ community in, and together with Out in Tech ensure this underrepresented audience is well-represented within both Wavemaker and our industry.”

This partnership is the latest initiative from Wavemaker supporting its Diversity and Inclusion imperative. With a regular cadence of events, learning and development opportunities and inclusive benefits, the agency is committed to cultivating a culture that celebrates difference. Led by CEO, Amanda Richman, the US Executive Committee is 60% female/40% male. Additionally, ethnic groups and minorities represent 38% of the US agency population, mirroring that of the US Census Bureau figures as a benchmark.

“Diverse representation goes beyond statistics,” said Amanda Richman, Wavemaker’s US CEO. “It is vital that every agency and marketer bring diverse perspectives in the room to ignite ideas and inspire new approaches to the challenges at hand.”

Wavemaker US received a spot on the 2019 Ad Age 50 Best Places to Work list, a recognition that was heavily influenced by its investment in diversity and inclusion programming such as its Brave Your Bias initiative and RQTEKT event series.
